Ford Finds More Use for Plastic Bottles

Continuing our theme of green production, we here at John Bleakley Ford are pleased to bring you another update from our favorite American automaker. Of course, we can guess what you're thinking. What did Ford do this time? After all, we are talking about the company that makes rubber out of dandelions, gaskets out of soy and tire rubber, and who recently reduced their water usage by 30 percent. It seems as though Ford can do no wrong, and their latest initiative further proves it.

More specifically, the company is taking their plan to use plastic bottles in the production of its vehicles one step further. Previously, the company was using plastic bottles to make floor mats for the Ford Explorer. The endeavor turned out to be popular with nearly everyone, so now the company has found another use for the recyclable resource: Seat covers.

Ford has announced a partnership with Unifi, Inc., the makers of REPREVE for the endeavor. For those of you who don't know, REPREVE is a recycled yarn that is of the highest quality. Of course, it goes without saying that Ford would only allow the best of the best in its lineup, but we still felt the need to clarify.

So which new Ford model will make use of these new seat covers first? Currently that honor looks to be going to the upcoming Ford Focus Electric, which we can't wait to see here at 870 Thornton Road Lithia Springs, GA 30122.

Though, it's also worth noting that whichever model you wind up going with, whether it be the Ford Edge, F-250, or Taurus, you can count on the fact that it was produced in a manner that is conscious of the environment. After all, Ford is innovating that way it builds its vehicles every day. And for more information on Ford production, models, and general news, we ask that you stay tuned.
